You’d sift through the (delivered to your home) printed catalogue, figure out what you wanted, go to the outlet location, fill out a request form, pay for your item(s) and they’d bring it out from the warehouse area in the back. Massive retail cost savings were achieved by not having to staff a store with clerks and displays, thus creating massive overhead savings that they could pass right on to you, the “Consumer”. (That concept is much like what we’re doing right here at KillSwitch®?) The Willowdale Consumers Distributing was located in (since demolished) Newtonbrook Plaza on the south/east corner of Yonge St. and Cummer Ave.
